Silsila to Rab Ne Ban Di Jodi - Bobby Talks Cinema.com

The topic may seem to be a little confusing, but it’s true that there does exist, a hidden devotional factor common in both these famous projects of Yash Raj Films.

And what spiritually connects the two, is a Sikh Devotional Hymn or Shabad which is right there in both the movies, sung in the same composition, by the same performer, in exactly the same style.
In 1981, Yash Chopra used the Shabad with the divine words, “Baanh Jinah Di Pakadiye” (meaning : When we hold our beloved Guru’s hand) in the soundtrack of “Silsila”. The Shabad was rendered by Bhai Harbans Singh Jagadari Wale, in a soothing composition as per its enlightening words.
After 27 years, in 2008, Aditya Chopra, under the expert guidance of his father Yash Chopra again used the same Shabad, “Baanh Jinah Di Pakadiye” for his prestigious Shahrukh Khan project “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” which had a story written around a Punjabi backdrop. This time, the Shabad was used as the background music for the opening sequence of the movie when the viewers are introduced to the divine Amritsar on the screen, amidst a Punjabi ambience. And once again the Shabad was re-recorded in the voice of Bhai Harbans Singh Jagadari Wale, sung in the same old composition as earlier used in “Silsila”.
And that’s how both Silsila and Rab Ne Bana Do Jodi got spiritually connected to each other.
You can listen to both the versions of the Shabad at any of the following links :
